Revitalize your
pelvic health

Every body has a pelvis. Every pelvis has a pelvic floor that supports more than just pelvic functions.

In pelvic floor physical therapy, we work together to develop a personalized plan that balances manual therapy, functional movement, exercise, and healthy lifestyle factors so you can move without pain.

And, it doesn’t have to be complicated. At the end of the day, your goals are my goals.

April dominick owner of revitalize pelvic floor therapy

Hi, I'm april!

I’m so glad you’re here.

I have dedicated my physical therapy career to helping folks with a pelvis navigate taboo topics such as peeing, pooping and sex, pain with activity, and managing the ever evolving pregnancy and postpartum chapter.

My goal is to come alongside individuals as they continue with/return to physical activity with an empowered understanding of how to manage their pelvic health and overall wellness.

Everyone’s body and recovery journey is unique and I am honored to celebrate you just the way you are.

A little about me: Texas raised. Avid hiker, amateur crossfitter, harpist & music enthusiast. Cheerful, caring & always curious.

No.

Revitalize Physical Therapy and Wellness is a cash pay practice, and out of network with insurance providers. This allows for one-on-one private evaluations and treatment sessions that otherwise would be directed by insurance reimbursement requirements.

Insurance companies often limit particular treatments and or limit the amount of time a physical therapist can work with a client, ultimately interfering with their goals.

At Revitalize PT, we offer quality care with fewer sessions and refuse to compromise on value when it comes to your health and wellness goals.

First up: Your Medical History

Whether you’re coming for assistance with an orthopedic or pelvic condition, the focus of the first appointment involves a thorough discussion of your medical history and details of your current condition.

Next: Assessment

We jump right into hands-on assessment and treatment of your muscles, joints, breathing patterns and movement analysis, particularly in positions or activities that are bothersome.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can be more intimate and personal than getting physical therapy for your knee pain. We ensure that your treatment sessions are held in a safe space, without judgment, and you will always be in control of the treatment options.

A screen of the pelvic floor musculature “down there” may be indicated for folks with bowel, bladder, pelvic/hip pain or during pregnancy and postpartum. This screen is always up to you, and may involve an internal or external vaginal or rectal examination with your verbal consent.

What’s the exam like?

The pelvic floor muscle assessment is similar to that of any other joint or muscle, with the exception of the unique access points to these muscle groups.

During an external examination, the pelvic floor anatomy is assessed through visual examination or palpation of the anatomy over clothes or on the skin. During an internal assessment, the physical therapist gently inserts a lubricated, gloved digit into the vagina or rectum to assess pelvic floor muscle tone, coordination, strength and the presence of trigger points.

No matter the type of exam, all lead to data points which provide valuable information to the source of potential pelvic floor dysfunction and highlights effective treatment options.

Ultimately, we understand that you may be nervous about starting pelvic floor physical therapy, we honor these feelings and strive to cultivate a safe and comfortable space for you to heal.

Last up: “Homework” & treatment

You will leave your appointment with a solid understanding of your physical therapy diagnosis, a plan of care and home exercise program. Follow up appointments will include continued full body assessments, treatments, functional exercise and optional modalities such as cupping or dry needling.

What should I wear?

Be sure to wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in.

What if I’m on my period?

If you are on your menstrual cycle, you can absolutely still come to your appointment! Being on your period does not disrupt pelvic floor treatment, and you can let your therapist know which assessment you are comfortable with that day.
